Meet The Builders
Phillip Fahrig, co-owner and Virginia Beach native, gets his drive from the endless pursuit of providing the best overall client & trade partner experience in the construction industry. Early on, Phil’s passion and commitment was molded by a multi-decade career with a local and globally recognized tile & stone supplier where he acquired a vast background of construction related field-technical knowledge, sales and general management experience. Phil admits there are a lot of well recognized contractors in the area, however, the customer service aspect has received the least attention and Anything Home makes it a priority. “In order for our business to grow, keeping our reputation in good standing is everything.” Phil and his wife, Mara, and their two kids, Brandon and Audrey reside in the Glenwood area of Virginia Beach and are heavily involved with community organizations. When not working, Phil enjoys time with his family, eating mexican food, and partakes in a golf round or two when time allows.
Ken Smith, co-owner, moved to Tidewater in 2007 after earning his bachelor’s degree in building construction from Virginia Tech. He started his career as a carpenter for a large remodeling firm. Ken’s technical knowledge and love of building led him to the role of Production Manager, where he directed the construction operations for the entire firm. In 2022, Ken was recognized by Remodeling Magazine as a “Top Forty Under Forty” industry leader. Ken also resides in Virginia Beach with his wife, Amanda, and their animals, Callaway, Coconut and Cashew.
Ken and Phil met as a result of their previous careers, and stayed in touch as they both formed their own construction companies. In January of 2022, Ken and Phil officially merged their two companies (Prime Built Construction and Anything Home), into Anything Home. Combined, they have over 40 years of experience in the construction industry and are passionate advocates for their clients.
Our Process
By its nature, construction is a complex and daunting process. It’s imperative that potential clients do their due diligence when choosing their contractor. Anything Home strongly encourages clients to choose a licensed and insured Contractor. Licensed Contractors are regulated by the State, and as such, are beholden to some basic standards of practice. If something goes awry with a project, and the Contractor is licensed, the Client has some recourse that can be taken via the State. If a contractor is uninsured, and an injury or loss occurs on a property, the property owner can be held liable for damages. It’s easy for contractors to say they’re licensed and insured, but it’s important the contractor provides proof.
Anything Home aims to make your project as easy as possible.
First, we will meet with you, see your space, and listen to your goals for the project.
Based on the initial visit, we will provide you with a complimentary Budget Proposal. The budget proposal will be a rough estimate of the costs required to bring your project to life.
If the budget proposal is satisfactory, we will enter into a Design Agreement. The purpose of the Design Agreement is to produce a Design Package. The Design Package will include all the necessary Plans, Renderings, Construction Documents, Selections, Specifications, a Schedule, and based on those details, a quote to produce the work. There is a small deposit required to produce the Design Package, as they take substantial time and resources to put together. This design package value is included in the quote and gets applied to the Construction Agreement.
The Construction Agreement is simply an official result of the Design Package, that indicates all the details of the project, the agreed upon purchase price, payment terms, specifications, conditions, etc. Once the Construction Agreement has been signed by the property owners and Anything Home, construction can be scheduled.
